FAMILY BUSINESS OWNERS COMPETENCY PROGRAM

Course Description
As a family member of a business family, you are as much a contributory to the success of your family business either as an owner or potential owner, involved in management or both. Being a responsible and competent owner is required to strengthen the family harmony which is the foundation of a healthy family business.
This program will develop the knowledge and skills in sustaining the growth of the family business it has achieved. Individual level competence such as business acumen, management functions, communication skills and a learning and growth orientation are acquired in this program. Family members gain motivation and perform their various roles in the family in the business and as owners. They can bring unique strengths and meaningful insights in meetings and other forms of discussions and analysis, setting them up to be major contributories for the success of the family business.
The FBOCP is an intensive 16-week program that gives a deeper understanding of the various management functions, decision making, leadership and family dynamics of the family business.
The program will expose participants on the dynamics of the family system and communication issues. They will explore management, leadership and relationships that are inherent in family businesses and how these are intertwined in the Ownership, Governance and Management of the family business.
Learning Outcomes
- Family members will acquire the necessary management competencies and understand family systems and dynamics better.
- Participants will learn and practice skills in addressing concerns in management, governance, and relational family dynamics in their family business.
- For the benefit of the family and the business, family members will learn and improve their communication skills, conflict resolution, and lead the family towards positive changes, better-informed decisions, and apply analytical skills for complex issues.
- Participants will value being responsible and competent owners of their family business regardless on whether they are active in the management of the business or policymakers as owners or both.
