Being Ethical in Business
Course Description
Often enough, people think that business and ethics don’t mix well together. It is believed that ethics would put a brake on business’ purpose and goals – to make a profit for itself and its trustful shareholders, employees and clients, to be of service to its public. That would seem to be true, if ethics and business were two distinct and separate human enterprises. Unfortunately, people sometimes think of these two as inimical to each other.
A better perspective of the relationship between the two would be the title of this course: “Being ethical in Business.” This suggests that “being ethical” is part and parcel of “doing business,” not APART from business. As such, the course will focus on ethical reasoning as every businessperson’s tool for making the right decisions in business. The course will suggest a framework for ethical decision-making that one can use in ethical situations.
